The Sack for All

Aaaaaaand whaddya know? That's that. They say that 90% of small businesses fail before they make it to 5 years of operation - well, the guy I was working for looked like he was going to make it.

Our little business had a lot of great things about it - good people, good offices, good processes... But it was lacking in one key area: the little concept of sales. The boss sacked his sales team nearly a year ago and basically the only things that were coming through the door were little $10k web jobs that I was bringing in.

So he announced yesterday that it's all over. I've got 4 more days' work (he wants everyone to work out their remaining hours despite the fact that there's nothing to do!) and it's time to start looking hard for a compay I can learn more from and consolidate the direction I started in here.

Adding insult to the boss's injury, the building contractors came in just before he announced it to us, to tell him that he had to take his big shiny sign down from the hallway. He loved that sign.

Anyway, we're off to Tasmania tomorrow morning as an engagement present from my mother. Better than sitting around the house I guess. I've been studying Nous's conveniently located map of the area in some detail.
