And then there were six...

Wow, one of my best buddies at work just got fired (head of systems architecture.) Then, almost immediately, the head of development, my other mate, accepted a job offer elsewhere.

That leaves us with the boss, the office manager, two chinese developers, a designer, and me, the business analyst. With both my best office pals gone. Who's gonna help me rile up the office manager now?

Our boss is just a slimy human being. He spent two closed-door meetings with the first guy trying to rile him up and upset him into leaving by himself, or back him into a corner so he could get angry and fire him. Both of these disgraceful attempts failed.

So finding out that the only other team leader in the company is leaving too makes me kind of happy, because I know the boss is fucked. He's just about to pack up and head off overseas on a holiday when his business is in crisis, and now the one guy he was hoping would stay to run the geek department is leaving too. It takes months to train a new team leader. Suffer in yer jocks.

The downside, of course, is that I'm now very realistically facing the prospect of unemployment myself. There's not much for a business analyst to do if there's nobody to do costings on my proposals, or indeed build the fucking things I've designed. And, the company has been pissing money out the door for months and months.

So it's CV time for me, dear friends. And if any of you know of any jobs that are going for a smart business/geek liaison person, copywriter or general web guy, pass them phone numbers on, because I'd love to be able to quit before the axe drops.

I feel kind of numb.
